CEO, NABVENTURES Limited
Shri Rajesh Ranjan is the CEO of NABVENTURES Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NABARD. NABVENTURES Fund I, the first fund of NABVENTURES Limited, is looking to raise capital for investments in early to mid-stage start-ups in the areas of agriculture, food and rural businesses.
Ranjan has an overall work experience of 20+ years in investment management, investment banking, project finance and credit rating. Prior to joining NABVENTURES, Ranjan worked with CapAleph Advisors (investment manager to the CapAleph Indian Millennium SME Fund, an early stage fund focused on food and agriculture) as Director and Head of Investments. Previously, Ranjan has worked at Q-India Investment Advisors, the Indian arm of Q Investments, LP, a USD 2 billion fund operating out of Dallas (USA) and Infrastructure Finance Development Company (IDFC) in the principal Investments group. At Q-India, Ranjan was pursuing incubation, private equity, long/short and structured investment opportunities in a sector agnostic manner while at IDFC (Principal Investments), he focused on private equity, public markets and structured investments in the infrastructure and ancillary sectors.
Some of his investments include incubation and sale of a telecom tower company, incubation of a vegetable seeds company, private equity investment in India’s leading infrastructure asset holdco, the leading stock exchange in India etc.
Ranjan was part of the senior team that set up investment banking at IDFC Limited. Ranjan has also worked at AsiaCap Investment Advisors (erstwhile India Capital Advisory & Investment Holdings (P) Limited), Destimoney Securities, ICRA Limited and Indian Airlines.
Ranjan holds a B.A. (Honors) in Economics from St. Stephen’s College (Delhi University) and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter of CFA Institute (USA) and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) charter of CAIA Association (USA
