Prashanth co-founded Accel Partners India in 2008. Prior joining the firm he began investing in Indian technology start-ups (as early as in 2004) much before they acquired global attention. He is an early stage investor and successful serial entrepreneur were started his investing career as co-founder of Erasmic, one of India’s first early stage funds and founded two more enterprises in the internet and multimedia publishing domains.
Prashanth has his finger on the pulse of the Indian technology scenario. His primary focus is on consumer Internet services, online marketplaces and SaaS. With his keen ability to spot emerging opportunities, he has invested in Indian technology start-ups like Agrostar, BlueStone, BookMyShow, Clevertap, FabHotels, Housing, Rentomojo, TeaBox, QwikCilver/GiftBig, and many more were Prashanth serves as a board member. Accel also has invested in category defining companies like Flipkart, Ola, Swiggy, Cult and BlackBuck.
Prashanth is a chairman of Shikshana Foundation, which was started in 2002 with a vision to ensure Quality education for every child studying in the Government/Public Education system. Under his leadership over the last 10 years Sikshana has expanded to 40,000 plus Government schools, reaching out to Millions of children.
He is currently, also serving as a Chairperson on the United Way of Bengaluru (UWBe) a unique Social organization which brings together all the relevant stakeholders such as corporates, Government bodies, and community members to address any environmental challenges faced by the community. UWBe is working with 25 plus lake communities and directly impacting the lake rejuvenation and preservation work of lakes across Bangalore. UWBe contributes more than 35 Crore through its Partners every year to the City of Bangalore and its surroundings.
Prashanth earned an MS in Computer Science from the University of Delaware and holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Bangalore Institute of Technology. Prashanth is native from Bengaluru.
