Ms. Garg works with IFC, a part of the World Bank Group (WBG). IFC is the world’s largest multilateral development finance institution with a goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 and boost shared prosperity in every developing country.Based in New Delhi, Ms. Garg oversees IFC’s investments into private equity and venture capital funds across the South Asia region. Her responsibilities include setting strategic direction, developing and maintaining the pipeline, execution of new transactions and oversight of the portfolio, including serving on fund advisory committees. The active portfolio currently has more than US$700 mn invested across 37 early stage and growth funds.
Ms. Garg had joined IFC in mid-2007 as the Regional Risk Officer for South Asia, responsible for designing, piloting and integrating risk management frameworks within investment operations across IFC’s industry sectors.
Ms. Garg is a highly regarded professional in the private equity and venture capital industry, speaking at key national and international conferences and featured in various industry and news publications. She serves on the Venture Capital Investment Committee at SIDBI and is an active member of the Indian private equity and venture capital industry through the Indian Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (IVCA) where she is on the Limited Partner Council, involved in industry development initiatives to bring international best practices, development of benchmarks and standards, and developing trainings and workshops for domestic and other fund investors.
Ms. Garg has deep experience in the South Asia region, including structuring and implementing complex business transactions and partnerships in a variety of settings. Prior to joining IFC, she was the Regional Chief Financial Officer covering South Asia for Wolters Kluwer, one of the world’s largest publishers of material for the scientific and technical sector. There, she was part of a 3 person team leading integration of 6 acquisitions and setting up independent business operations in the region. Previously, she has worked in finance and consulting roles at Discovery Networks and PwC.
Ms. Garg holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management, has executive education from Harvard Business School and is a Chartered Accountant.
