Managing Partner & Co-Head, Global Infrastructure Partners India LLP
M.K. Sinha (“MK”) is the Managing Partner and Co-Head of Global Infrastructure Partners India LLP (“GIP India”) and a member of the Investment Committee of GIP India Funds. In this role, MK is responsible for overseeing the India business including investments, portfolio management, exits, fund raising, operations and relationship with all stakeholders. Overall, MK has twenty-eight years of experience, the most recent 12 years as an investor in the alternatives space. The previous 16 years, he has worked in the project finance, corporate finance and investment banking areas.
Prior to transitioning to GIP India, MK was Managing Partner & CEO of IDFC Alternatives where he led the investment business across Infrastructure, Private Equity and Real Estate asset classes. His earlier roles at IDFC were as President & CEO of IDFC Project Equity (2007-2012) where he was responsible for setting up and managing the Infrastructure fund management business and as Executive Director at IDFC Ltd (2005–2007) where he was responsible for project finance & business development.
Prior to joining IDFC, MK worked with the General Electric Company in the Structured Finance Group for over 10 years in various locations – Stamford (USA), London, Hong Kong and Singapore. Before that, MK worked with Bank of America and SBI Capital Markets in the corporate finance and investment banking areas respectively.
MK holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a B.Tech (Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
